This beautiful handmade Shamanic Rattle is made with natural Elk hide, bound to a Ironwood handle. It is filled with specially selected stones, shell and incense.

The Elk

Ironwood

The Hornbeam, known as Ironwood or Musclewood due to its dense, tough timber, carries spiritual symbolism deeply rooted in its characteristics. This sturdy tree embodies resilience and determination, reflecting the idea that inner strength can overcome external challenges. Its distinctive bark, resembling flexed muscles, symbolizes vitality and physical well-being. In some traditions, the Hornbeam represents endurance, making it a symbol of fortitude during life's trials. Its association with longevity and wisdom is also notable. The Hornbeam's spiritual significance encourages individuals to tap into their inner fortitude, persevere through difficulties, and connect with the enduring strength of nature.

Sustainability

At Heron Drums, we work with natural materials and animal hides - this way the strength and the spirit of the animal and the tree live on in these sacred medicine tools. All of the hides and woods for our shamanic medicine tools are ethically and sustainably sourced, meaning that the hides are sourced from horses that have died naturally or wild culled stags or reindeer, where the hides are otherwise discarded, and the wood for the sticks is from sustainably managed forests.
