The Goddess Handle

The Goddess handle is designed to show the full bellied goddess, with crystal in her belly and arms outreaching, to honour and represent the ancient Earth Goddess representations from Europe and beyond. 

This handle style is designed based on ancient carvings and images, such as the Laussel Venus (c. 20,000 BCE) and the Venus of Willendorf (c. 23-28,000 BCE), where the Goddess is represented with a full belly. As Reindeer and Horses are associted with the Goddess (elen and Epona, respectively), we tend to work with these hides when crafting Shamanic Drums with this handle style.

I was first asked to birth a drum with a Goddess style handle in 2014, and could immediately picture a way to do it. After some experimentation, this Goddess handle style developed, and has been a popular style for bespoke drum orders ever since. 

Many people choose this handle to deepen their work in connecting with the Goddess in her various forms and to connect with the divine feminine. You may also choose to combine it with a stone or crystal in the belly that reflects or supports the work that you are looking to create together.
