A Heartfelt Farewell – Heron Drums Gathering in Glastonbury

Heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude to everyone who joined us in Glastonbury for our farewell gathering. It was a truly powerful and moving day.

Over the past twelve and a half years, it has been an honour to share the sacred art of the drum with so many of you across the country. To have seen Heron Drums grow into such a wide-reaching and heart-led community has been one of the great privileges of my life. To hso many of you travel from all corners of the UK to be part of this final gathering meant the world.

Earlier this year, at Imbolc, I shared the news that Heron Drums would be winding down and taking a pause. I’m preparing to move to Ireland, and with the scale of that transition, it became clear that it was time to bring this chapter of Heron Drums to a close. Since making that announcement, I have been utterly blown away by the response—the love, support, and stories that have poured in from this beautiful community have been deeply moving.

On May 25th, 2025, we gathered in the Glastonbury Assembly Rooms—at the heart chakra of the world—to celebrate and honour the drum, and the role it has played in our lives. People travelled from across the country to join us: from as far north as Scotland to the southern coast, from Kent and Cornwall to Wales and the Midlands. Some who joined have been walking with this work from before Heron Drums even began, and others were recent companions just discovering their path with the drum. All were welcome, and all brought their presence, their stories, and their prayers.

In the Assembly Rooms, we drummed together, we shared stories, we spoke of what the drum had meant to us—of healing, of transformation, of community. We reflected on our connections with Heron Drums and with each other. We journeyed together, asking the drum what it asks of us next. Then many of us went on to climb Glastonbury Tor, carrying our prayers and visions to the pinnacle of the sacred landscape, sending them out across the land in rhythm and reverence.

The energy of the day was immense. It was filled with joy and power, with grief and gratitude, with the thrum of connection that the drum carries so well. It meant so much to see you all there, to stand in circle one more time, and to mark the closing of this chapter.

As this chapter of Heron Drums comes to a close, may the drums continue to guide you, bring you strength, and fill your path with joy. May their voices ripple out across this land, and may all be touched by the heartbeat of the drum.

Thank you.
