Epona, the Great Mare

In Celtic mythology, the horse holds great significance as a symbol of power, fertility, and sovereignty. Considered a sacred animal, horses were associated with the Otherworld and were believed to possess magical qualities. They were often depicted as guides or companions of heroes, carrying them to battle or aiding in their quests. Among the Celtic deities, Epona was particularly revered as the goddess of horses and horsemanship. Epona, meaning "Great Mare," was worshipped as a protector of horses, a fertility goddess, and a symbol of abundance. She was also associated with healing, dreams, and the afterlife, embodying the connection between the earthly and spiritual realms. Epona's cult was widespread throughout the Celtic world, and her imagery often depicted her with horses or surrounded by them, highlighting her central role in Celtic mythology and horsemanship.

Offerings Pouches

In ancient times, offerings were given to spirits of place and to invite blessings, express gratitude and to build the sacred relationship we have with them.

One way of doing this is through the giving of herbs, or oats, or salt. These pouches are for keeping your offerings in, to take with you on medicine walks, or walks out to connect with the land.

Offerings can be given when entering a field or forests to thank the spirits there for welcoming you, or given as a thank you to the spirits of a place if you have been meditating there and they have shared with you a particular insight.

These offerings pouches are made with soft leather , and each have a bronze Horse charm attached to them.
