The Ash

The Ash is sourced from our local area, and an offering is given to the trees for each piece that is cut and prayers are sung to the forest.

The Ash is a tree of healing, empowerment and enchantment. It holds profound symbolism and mythology in both Celtic and Norse traditions. In Celtic mythology, the Ash tree represents strength, protection, and cosmic order, with its deep roots and towering branches symbolize its connection to the divine and its role as a conduit for cosmic energies. In Norse mythology, the Ash tree, known as Yggdrasil, is the cosmic world tree that supports and connects the nine realms. Yggdrasil represents the interconnectedness of all things, serving as a meeting point for gods, humans, and other beings. The Ash tree is also linked to the god Odin, who hung himself from Yggdrasil for nine days and nights to gain wisdom and knowledge of the runes. Thus, the Ash tree embodies wisdom, spiritual growth, and the cycle of life, making it a significant and revered symbol in Celtic and Norse mythologies.

Sustainability

The wood for this beater stick is gathered by hand, with prayer and ceremony and offerings to the land. We are responsible in our harvesting, making sure that the tree and the forest can continue to thrive. The beater head is crafted from leather offcuts, so colours may vary slight from the picture, and filled with wool. All of the materials used in the crafting of the beaters is honoured during the process of being made, and the beater is blessed with incense to welcome it into being once it has been made.
